Grandsons do Headlands Beach (8/2/2016)

Tuesday, August 2, 2016
When Kyle and Erich visited their grandparents in Ohio, they traditionally went to a close friend and neighbor's swimming pool. We don't have any close friends, I mean, we don't have any neighbors with swimming pools (!), so we went to Headlands Beach State Park with its beach on Lake Erie.
They had a Sand Sculpting Competition on July 16, 2016.

In the evening we went to a Frontier League baseball game in Avon, with the Lake Erie Crushers hosting the Southern Illinois Miners. We had front row seats beyond third base, which meant a couple foul balls went sailing over us. Pete and I made the circuit around the park to check out the general admission lawn area, the inflatable bounce houses (Pete was too tall for the usual bounce house and decided not to do the obstacle course with a tall slide for the big kids, plus they had an additional fee), and the community tables with freebies. Mercy Hospital had a large "Operation" type game, and Pete easily pulled out one piece, but got buzzed after that. He still "won" a bracelet, a "tattoo," and stickers. Then he received a bagful of goodies from a community bank, including a water bottle, a cow bank, and candy. When we returned, Dylan went to get his goodie bag. We left during the seventh inning stretch.
Next: Cedar Point.
