We tempted fate by driving to metropolitan Washington, DC on an early January day when a snow storm was predicted! It was cold but sunny when we arrived in Gaithersburg, MD.

It had snowed during the night, but not very much. It was cold and windy, and it was more of the wind chill that closed the schools in Montgomery County today! So we had Dylan and Pete all day! What a bonus!
We drove into Washington, DC to visit the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.
