We arrived in good time at the ACTS
Lima Estates, a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), or specifically a Life Care Retirement Community, meaning they offer the full continuum of care (independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care) with a guarantee of a fixed/predictable monthly service fee for a lifetime. It was built in 1971, and has had renovations over the years, the latest being the pool. It sits on 54 acres, with 300 apartments, 35 assisted living suites, and 60 skilled care beds.

Lima Estates is a gated community that exits at a traffic light |

Lima Estates entrance |
Lima Estates offers apartments on two-three floors with separate wings for Oak Bridge Terrace (assisted living) and Willow Brooke Court (skilled nursing). For a facility in a state that gets snow, there are no protected parking areas.
Life Care Consultant Michelle A gave us a tour of the facilities.

Dining room, open only for dinner |
A look at the Lima Estates website will show the Bistro (open for breakfast, lunch and dinner) dining room, which looks like a New Orleans courtyard with wrought-iron balconies. Lima Estates offers one meal per day, and any other meals are à la carte.

We had dinner with Bonnie and Jim C, who first showed us their two-bedroom with den apartment. They had, of course, down-sized to move into Lima Estates, but they also got rid of most of their furniture, and bought almost all new furniture. They did have space here for their grand piano!
Lima Estates backs up to Tyler Arboretum as a protected nature preserve. It is within a mile and a half of Riddle Hospital. Penn State Brandywine is about a half mile away.
The closest major airport is Philadelphia International/PHL, a mere 14 miles away.
