West Indies Adventure: Road Town, British Virgin Islands (12/18/2023)

Today's view from our stateroom of Road Town,
the capital of the British Virgin Islands,
one of the British Overseas Territories
This morning we started out on our own tour of Road Town,
passing through the Cyril B Romney Tortola Pier Park
Statue (2022) of Cyril B Romney, who was
a member of the BVI Legislative Council and
acted as Chief Minister 1983-1986
Central Administration of the British Virgin Islands
Craft Alive Village (2013)
Pusser's Company Store and Pub (est 1979, the first),
known for Pusser's Rum, the official rum of the British Navy,
as well as nautical clothing and gear
Previously we had the Peebles Park, and now
we have the Peebles Hospital (est 1922, building 2004-2014)
Sir Olva Georges Plaza with a Christmas tree
What we can see of the Old Government House (1925-1926),
the official residence of government leaders until 1999, when
it was converted into the Old Government House Museum
A creative Christmas tree in front of

Old Post Office (mid 1800s)
Statue (2010) of Sir James Olva Georges,
a community leader and the only citizen
of BVI to be knighted (1971)
St George's Episcopal Anglican Church (rebuilt 1819)
Old HM (His Majesty's) Prison (1774) is now a museum

after Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017)
A peek into the AO Shirley Recreation Ground, which
is currently used for football (i.e., soccer) matches
Entrance to the JR O'Neal Botanical Gardens (1891), which 
was heavily damaged by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017
