Oh, my, we went right from winter to summer! The temperature is in the 90s today!
We walked from Rockefeller Park to Lake Erie through Gordon Park. The land for Gordon Park was donated by philanthropist William J Gordon who made his fortune in the wholesale grocery and iron ore businesses. He had accumulated land on the shore of Lake Erie where Doan Brook empties into the lake. He was landscaping the area with pathways, bridges and wooded groves to be used as a public park upon his death. The park opened in 1893, and was popular for its beach and the wooded areas with formal gardens.
Today, a highway cuts through the park.
