Because we had time before our advance reservation at noon at the Erie Art Museum, We checked out Perry Square.
Oliver Hazard Perry Statue is a 1985 replica of 
the statue (1885, by William Greene Turner)
of Perry in his hometown of Newport, RI
Oliver Perry is known for his command of the naval fleet built along the shore of Erie County, PA and defeat of the British near Put-in-Bay, OH at the Battle of Lake Erie.
A plaque describes the Edison Electric Fountain
(1929) that has already been winterized
Pedestal "Presented to the City of Erie by
Geo D Selden of Erie City Iron Works
on 30 May 1893" stands in front of
"crossed" cannon (1902) in honor of
General Anthony Wayne, American Revolutionary
War hero, who died in Erie, PA
Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument (1872,
by Martin Milmore) dedicated to those from
Erie County who gave their lives in the Civil War
Strong Mansion (1890-1893, in Romanesque Revival style)
is now the Old Main of Gannon University (1925)
Erie Club (1846-1848, by Edward Smith in Greek Revival style
for Charles Manning Reed) is considered the finest private
social club in Northwest Pennsylvania

Finally we were able to enter the Erie Art Museum, as the only visitors. Half the museum was closed off for an exhibition installation. We were able to visit the Erie Art Museum for free through our membership with Tyler Arboretum and NARM/North American Reciprocal Museum Association.

Erie Art Museum decided to display everything that had a frame, to free up storage space as they inventoried their entire collection. In the 1800s art museums used to show their collections in this manner, salon style. Nothing was identified.

Now it is time to shuffle off to Buffalo, NY, but we took a break in Erie, PA.
