having been planted in 1881 by then

set of gates on the west side of the Rose Garden, or these
smaller gates are "generic rose garden gates"?
Campus Art in the Garden: Alfred's Gate (c 1996, by
Greg & Lydia Leavitt) representing late winter with beech tree
branches and leaves, is at the north end of the Rose Garden
At the bottom left of the left gate you may see the Muscari sp/Grape-hyacinth flowers; Muscari is the the surname of Alfred & Josephine!
Scott Arboretum N: Nason Garden honors
Swarthmore College president (1940-1953) John W Nason,
and showcases plants with texture
Scott Arboretum N & S: Back at Cunningham House
(remember it was built for the Math and Astronomy Department)
and its Teaching Garden
