Erich & Laura Wedding Weekend!
Most of the groom's closest family had rented condos at Beachwalk, a short walk to the Sonesta Resort, the venue for the wedding. This morning Erich along with Dylan and Pete, and Kyle joined others for golf at the Shipyard Golf Club. The rest of us were to meet at The Sandbox, the local children's museum.
But first a stop at the Compass Rose Park:

(2010, by Susie Chisholm and Darrell Davis)
Jaunty Charles Fraser
Charles Fraser was sent to the island to cut down trees when he realized its potential as a resort destination. He convinced his father to send him to Harvard Law School, and then sell him the island. He built golf courses and gated subdivisions, transforming Hilton Head from a "rural backwater of formerly enslaved people (and alligators) into a fashionable enclave for rich white people" (and alligators). After Fraser died in 2002 (when the engine on his yacht exploded), Albert the alligator "disappeared."
