Choo Choo Barn (11/18/2022)

Friday, November 18, 2022 (continued)
After lunch at Cafe 1832 at the East Strasburg Railroad Station, we headed to the Choo Choo Barn.
Choo Choo Barn entrance
With a "scavenger hunt" plus finding
61 Santas in the display, one is
too busy to take photographs!
It seemed every 10 minutes the lights dimmed and
it was night time in Train Town, for a minute or two
An Amish homestead; many buildings were handcrafted
from scratch, and apparently all the animatronics
were created from scratch, such as the right-handed
men hammering on the roof of the barn-raising
The cherry picker lifts moved up and down
A circus parade circled the animal tent, and you were
supposed to find the clean-up man following the elephants
When we were done going around thee display twice, the cashier asked if we found 61 Santas. I replied that I had 61 slashes, although we counted the Santa in the sleigh pulled by reindeer overhead. That was included, so she offered us a sticker! When I asked if the three-headed troll had the heads of the Three Stooges: "Yes," and we received another sticker!
Across the street from the Choo Choo Barn, an Amish farmer
was spreading liquefied manure over his fields (KSS)
The Sight and Sound Theater (1998) is the largest
faith-based theater in the country, with epic Bible stories
performed as musicals with spectacular staging
We are waiting for a Christmas-themed show and must wait until late in 2023.
Dinner was at Katie's Kitchen, an
"Authentic Amish Cooking Restaurant"
The waitstaff were dressed "plainly" with starched white prayer coverings over their hair, but was this their uniform or were they truly Amish? We had chicken croquettes and a baked potato drowned in chili. The dinner rolls came with peanut butter (there was regular butter on the table).
Next: Strasburg Railroad: Santa's Paradise Express.
