This weekend we visited
Regency Oaks, a Life Care Services continuing care retirement community, in Clearwater, FL. Life Care Services (est 1971) is the third largest senior living operator, but we do not know how many of their 140+ facilites are CCRCs. Located on 40 acres, Regency Oaks has over 385 independent living apartments, 26 assisted living units, 60 skilled nursing beds, along with eight private rehabilitation suites.

Five stories of apartments with either screenned or enclosed balconies |
Covered parking is available for an additional monthly fee |
Car washing station with a vacuum |
Garden plots are also available for a fee; here we can see Mike's rock garden! |
This morning we took a quick trip to see spring training sites for the Philadelphia Phillies |
Jack Russell Stadium (1955) was the spring training park for the Phillies from 1955-2003; Russell himself played in the Major Leagues (1926-1940) and went on to become a Clearwater city commissioner, where he advocated for a new stadium for the Phillies who had been in Clearwater for spring training since 1947 |
Memorial marker for Jack Russell |
Our next stop was BayCare Ballpark (2004), the current spring training stadium for the Phillies |
The west entrance plaza features The Ace (2004, by Kevin Brady), whose uniform is a composite of 100 years of Phillies uniforms; one source claims the statue is mis-identified as Steve Carlton, yet Steve Carlton was left-handed as is the statue |
The sculptor does not identify the statue as Steve Carlton, and this guy does not have a mustache like the statue in Philadelphia |
Woohoo, a glimpse of some Phillies! |
Is it Alec Bohm and Bryson Stott? |
BayCare Ballpark is also home to the Clearwater Threshers, the Phillies single-A minor league team |
From the gift shop we had a view of the baseball diamond, but the players were leaving due to rain |
Back at Regency Oaks for lunch at the GastRO Bistro, which offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Saturday.
Recessed apartment doors allowed for some personal decorating touches |
The hallways were wide, with minimal artwork on the walls |
The North and South Buildings each have a renovated lobby that included an Apple computer and printer setup |
A breezeway connects the buildings to a central group of smaller buildings containing several amenities, such as the beauty salon and barber shop, and the bistro |
The breezeway |
Grills and a wood-fired pizza oven |
The fire pit |
Swimming pool and hot tub |
The women's changing room at the pool |

The Woodshop was locked up tight |
Fitness Center |
Lounge between the Wellness office and the Town Hall |

With two days of rain, we did not play shuffleboard! |
But we did complete a jigsaw puzzle! |

On Sunday we had brunch in the North Building dining room; note the self-serve salad bar |
The South Building dining room has dinner on Sundays
These were the main entrees offered today |
The South Building has not renovated the hallway carpets yet |
This is as much as we completed of the jigsaw puzzle today; the puzzles are located in the library, of which each building has one |
We are grateful to Mike and Donna for putting us up in the guest apartment for three nights, and for providing meals and rainy day entertainment. We loved the Brit Box shows!
