Last evening at Port Talk, we were warned that the Hungarian border control like to match real faces with the passports, and so to expect a call soon after we arrived at 6:00 AM. Rather than meet the officials in our pajamas, we were up at 6:00 and got dressed. At that time, there are breakfast pastries at the beverage station, so we were all set.
At about 8:00 there was an announcement apologizing for the delay by the Hungarian officials. Rumor had it that the officials were new on the job and the top guy was yelling at the staff. Apparently most river cruise boats do not worry about COVID-19 and they must tell the officials they have no cases. And they swing out and pass us by, because Viking was being transparent. I think we had evacuated all our positive cases and their companions already, but...
I was able to catch up on editing photos, and Kent was on Facebook.
Finally during lunch, they called all the staff to have their face-to-face with the border officials. Then, surprisingly, we started sailing! They did not check any of the passengers' faces!
Off we went, but we were 4-5 hours late! We were going to miss our included afternoon shore excursion to Kalocsa and the Puszta!
Straight to Budapest!

By the time we had our Port Talk, the Viking staff had rescheduled the Kalocsa & Puszta shore excursion for those who were interested, which we were! The last time we were in Hungary, we missed the Puszta horsemanship show, because we went on a day it was closed. We thought we had missed it again!
