Our included exursion continued to the Sondos Papyrus shop in Aswan, a surpirse stop for us.

| We are shown a stalk of papyrus |
![]() |
| The stalk has the outer "skin" removed and is cut into thin strips, then soaked in water for about three days |
![]() |
| The strips are pounded as flat as possible |
![]() |
| A roller is used to squeeze out excess water and release the sugars |
![]() |
| Place the paper in a press to flatten it, allowing the sugars to fuse together |
![]() |
| Voila! A sheet of papyrus paper |
![]() |
| The paper can be tinted to look older |
![]() |
| No photographs were allowed in the shop, but the quality of the paintings on the papyrus was amazing |

| Heading back to the ship in the motor coaches, we passed Bakkar Amusement Park |

| Durrat El Nil Park in front of the Aswan Governorate Building |
