Life-size sculptures of the national animal of Bhutan, the Budorcas whitei/Bhutan Takin that look like a cross between a cow and a goat, and is in its own genus; they are found in Bhutan and nearby areas of China (KSS) |
Legend has it that the takin was created by the Buddhist yogi, Drupa Kunley. These particular takin once lived in a zoo, but were released by the 4th king as not in keeping with Buddhist religious and environmental convictions. However, they were too tame to survive in the wild, and are now fenced in for their safety.
