A little bit of Swarthmore (10/17/2021)

Sunday, October 17, 2021
Friends and fellow travelers Peter & Beth P stopped by on their multi-destination trip from MA to NC. They were accompanied by the new family member, Jerry, a Boston terrier.
We had lunch outside on the patio of Iron Hill
Brewery & Restaurant in Media, since Jerry
is too young to be a service dog!
(Jerry was shivering!) (KSS)
After a brief tour of Granite Farms Estates, we went to Swarthmore College to wander on campus in Scott Arboretum (which we have visited on 8/9/2020).
A new plant for us: Solanum quitoense/
Naranjilla, a member of the nightshade family
The stem and leaves have spines
The naranjilla seed pod has already opened
Oops, I shrunk our guests! Beth, Peter with Jerry,
and Kent in the Giant Adirondak Chair (2009, by
Jake Beckman to replace his 2002 original) located at
Parrish Beach (the lawn in front of Parrish Hall)
Chrysanthemum dendranthema 'Cambodian
Queen'/Korean or Hardy Mum variation
A great day at Swarthmore College with Sproul Observatory
(1913-2017), and the Clothier Bell Tower (1929, by
Karcher & Smith) that progressively plays the
Westminster Quarters or Chimes on the quarter hour
Thanks for visiting, Peter & Beth. Safe travels!
