Stroudsburg, PA, is located in the Pocono Mountains and is the county seat of Monroe County. It was founded in 1799 by Colonel Jacob Stroud, who had fought in the French and Indian War.

style), a former dry goods store at 586 Main St
Newberry's Five & Dime (1953 in Moderne style)
at 600 Main St; John J Newberry left S H Kresge Company
to open his own discount store here in 1911

10 N Seventh St; Palmer was Attorney General
(under President Woodrow Wilson) who is
known for the "Palmer Raids" in which
alleged radicals were arrested, questioned,
and in some cases deported
Stroud House (1829) at 31 N Seventh St, was built for
Sarah Stroud (daughter of Jacob Stroud) and her husband,
Dr James Hollinshead, who donated the land for the courthouse
