ROFL! We look like little kids next to the "Giant
Sitting Lincoln" (1911, by Gutzon Borglum, copy 2009 by
Irene Deely) located in Julia Davis Park in Boise, ID
(a Roadside America attraction)
The Idaho Black History Museum (est 1995) is located in
St Paul Baptist Church (1921, relocated to Julia Davis Park
in 1998); the museum is the oldest African-American
history museum on the Pacific Northwest
These rock formations are apparently part of the
Lewis & Clark Discovery Trail for children,
part of the Idaho State Museum in Julia Davis Park
Idaho State Museum Pioneer Village: Thomas Logan House
(c 1865-1868, relocated 1971) is the
earliest surviving mud brick building in Boise
Richard C Adelmann House (c 1884, relocated 1981)
Coston Cabin (1863)
Towers of the Capitol Boulevard Memorial Bridge (1931,
by Charles A Kyle in Art Deco style)
Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial (2002,
by Kurt Karst) is said to be the only human rights
memorial in the United States; although a criticism
is that there is no mention that Anne Frank
was a victim of the Holocaust
Statue (2002, by Greg Stone) of Anne Frank
depicts her pulling back a curtain to
peer out of the attic window
The statue seen through the "window;"
somewhere there is the Anne Frank Sapling
of the chestnut tree that she would have seen
Natural Bridge (1994, by David A Berry)
has mosaic "petroglyphs" (KSS)
Now it was time to enter the Boise Art Museum
(1937, in Art Deco and Egyptisn Revival style,
which is no longer apparent after multiple renovations);
free admission with Tyler Arboretum membership
No photographs were allowed except in the Sculpture Court.
The Fractured Giant (2023, by Jacob Hashimoto)
a site-specific installation combing kite- and
pattern-making, all done by hand
A closer look at The Fractured Giant
The Sculpture Garden was closed
Next: Basque Block, Boise, ID.
