second oldest capitol building west of the Mississippi River

Tribute to Nevada Miners (1983, by
 Greg Melton) is said to depict Adolph Sutro,
the miner and engineer who constructed the
4-mile/6.5 m long Sutro Tunnel from  Dayton
to beneath the Comstock Lode mines, which
drained hot, sulfurous waters that made
working underground so dangerous
